New sport and activities complex for Trnava

Trnava - Slovenia

The city of Trnava in the west of Slovakia is home to FC Spartak Trnava, one of the best soccer teams in the country. The technically ageing stadium of the club is to be replaced by a new facility currently under construction. The complex known as the “City Arena” will also include offices and a shopping centre and is scheduled for completion in summer 2015. In the meantime, the developers are making extensive use of MC products.
The City Arena is an ambitious project and currently one of the biggest investments in the city of Trnava. Aside from the stadium, named after Anton Malatinsky – the well known football player and trainer of Spartak Trnava – the complex will also include a shopping mall. The aim of the investors and developers is to combine the passion for sport with a generous shopping and activities centre. The contractor and financier of the stadium is the Slovakian state, its original aim being to build a modern sports arena that meets the requirements of UEFA and FIFA with a seating capacity of 19,000 spectators. The investor of the shopping mall is City Arena Inc., a company of the Euro Max Slovakia Group. In addition to a two-storey underground car park with a capacity for 1,000 vehicles, the complex will also include offices covering a floor space of 2,670 m2, said shopping mall with a floor space of 23,660 m2 and a multiplex cinema with 600 seats. Completion of the complex, the total investment cost of which is estimated at 79 million euros, is scheduled for August 2015.

MC products for high-quality fair faced concrete structures

Since the start of construction in March 2014, MC-Bauchemie has been supplying the precast concrete factory ZIPP-STRABAG near Trnava with products such as superplasticisers, high-performance process oils, grouting compounds and concrete cosmetic products. ZIPP-STRABAG is currently manufacturing high-quality precast elements both for the stadium and for the shopping mall. MC has a long-standing and close relationship with ZIPP-STRABAG, based on its ability to precisely align its products to the specific requirements placed on the concrete components. Given the complexity of the project, a great deal of detail work is necessary, and this too is being carried out on the basis of close collaboration between the two companies.
For the production of the precast concrete elements, MC recommended Muraplast KF 842.1, a superplasticiser based on polycarboxilate ether (PCE) which is characterised by above-average water savings and high early strength values in the concrete. It is suitable for the manufacture of high-quality fair faced concrete components and, because of its outstanding properties, it is widely applied in the manufacture of high-performance concretes in general. With Ortolan Premium 702, a release agent was selected offering outstanding separating performance that is also ideal for the production of high-quality fair faced concrete (to classes SB 3 and 4 per German standard DIN 18217). In addition, Emcekrete 60 and also various MC concrete cosmetic products are being used on site for the build. Emcekrete 60 is a ready-to-use grouting concrete that merely has to be mixed with water. It is characterised by its very good fluidity and high initial and final strengths. The concrete cosmetic products from MC are being used to improve and repair damaged and contaminated areas of the fair faced concrete surfaces for optimum visual effect.
